Is Nuclear Fusion Possible?

02/17/2014 1:33 AM

_____________________________________________________

A few observations of some resent posts, when put together, may or may not make sense?

Post (1); http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/83911 ,

Post (2); http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/88285/Fusion-Breakthrough-at-NIF-Uh-Not-Really,

Post (1) refers to an article that points out that a force radiates from the sun, approximately monthly, that changes the rate of decay of radioactive materials. So does this force emanate from the fusion process? Is there a force that aligns and holds Neutrons in place, something like the electron shell? Electrons can be moved out of there shell by an electro magnetic force. Is there a force that has the same effect on neutrons?

Post (2) Is an article on the nuclear fusion process, and its limitations.

Observation; Cold fusion and nuclear fusion are not success stories, So my observation is do you think that nuclear and cold fusion could succeed if they are made to work together in tandem, with nuclear fusion radiating a force that in close proximity to cold fusion ensures that the process works, and the energy from the cold fusion fed into the primary side of the nuclear fusion and the secondary energy output from the nuclear fusion process being a net gain.

Regards JD.

Why don't you ask "is Nuclear Fusion practical?

May sound pedantic, but it's been many decades since nuclear fusion was first harnessed (well, relatively....) in the form of the H- bomb. I'm not too sure on your idea of combining the different processes, but someone probably has a government grant waiting somewhere......

I would try to give you some of our coffee discussions from a few weeks ago, but then I didn't understand them myself. Several of the participants have worked with fusion over the years. That how casual discussions are in this town. Of course it is possible, although they didn't get to cold fusion, which I personally think is a waste of time. The best analogy I have of fusion, is that it is possible, and could be a terrific source of energy, but it is like trying to ride a motorcycle over a hundred miles per hour on a curvy road and trying to light a cigarette. Possible, but very tricky.

These insolvable conundrums are just waiting for the right person.

I remember some plumber solved all the 5 'impossible' math conundrums devised by one of the great Greek thinkers. It took about 2000 years. The plumber was bored, discovered the problems in a magazine and solved them (as I remember it) in a weekend. As you could imagine that created quite a stir in some communities.
