Ultrasonic Welding

Friends I want to weld two plastic parts with ultrasonic welding (with energy director)and in that regards I want to do the calculation that how much strength will it provide and under which stranderd (ASME) will it come. Please guide me so that i can get the full information on it.

The two materials are bonded on the molecular level and your weld strength is determined by the properties of you weakest material. I have seen no formula for calculations, but when bonded properly you will usually destroy the weaker material upon tensil testing. Depending on you materials and the weld area, Radio Frequency welding may be another option.

What are you trying to weld? What kind of plastic? I've done a bit of this in the fenestration industry and might have a little input if you can share more details.
