Windows 8.1 and the Sky/One Drive

03/27/2014 5:26 PM

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 (not pro) from 8.0 because I thought I could get rid of 'skydrive' completely (a web suggestion I followed...to a dead end).
How do I get rid of 'Sky/One Drive' (1) as the default save to location and (2) off of my file views?
I don't want 'skydrive' for any reason especially not as a default save location for my personal files. It doesn't matter if people can't see my files or not, I want the ability to 'Just say no' to skydrive/onedrive. I DO NOT LIKE IT BILL I AM…I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM! ...I'm hopeful for a remedy.
Windows 8.1 administration is like having to adjust delay line storage on a Packard Bell (PB250).

Bill Gates is a thief.

The cloud IS NOT SECURE and your data is at the mercy of people who don't care a whit about you.

Try to get help with a Windoze problem, or any help from the MS thieves.

Good luck.

I back everything up on two separate external drives. The only time they are plugged in to my laptop is when I'm backing up or restoring.

I downloaded some "important" security updates to my work pc and now my Windows XP won't load. That sucks! Thanks a lot Bill.

Beware the last updates for XP may very well be the ones that disable it and force you to the new OS. ( could they be that devious / criminal ? are there examples in the past - Vista )

Thanks! I saw this somewhere during my exhaustive search but lost the location. A friend told me about this group so I brought my issue with over here (I apologize for that). I'll run over and give the initial registry edit and may go back and do the group policy edit too.

I certainly agree. Anything in 'the cloud' is open hunting for abuse, misuse, or by our nation's head excuse. You can quote me :) .

I agree. The cloud is not secure and opens you up for misuse, abuse, and the nation's head excuse.

I back everything important up on an external too and it is disconnected when I'm not backing up.

I'll go you one further than that. Some files I create and save to the external, while my computer is disconnected from the internet. Then I reboot before connecting back to the internet.

O.K. and thanks file explorer 'one-ness' no longer presents the 'sky/one drive.'

How do I get rid of 'Sky/One Drive' (1) as the default save to location (I need to add that all my MS Apps attempt to save to the 'one-ness drive' as the first option). If you're not paying attention off they go to Bill Gates and Erick Holder.

I may have to reload the office apps now that the 'one-ness' is gone from file explorer.
