Valve Seat Grinder

06/13/2007 6:52 AM

My company is looking for a replacement for our old Sioux 1695 Valve Seat Grinder. Due to an accident the grinder is down for repair and parts are very hard if not impossible to find. We are grinding the valve seats of the AVDS 1790 diesel engine. The bore is 5.750", 10.50 deep and the valves are canted to the center axis at 25 degrees. We are looking at several options to replace this aging grinder including flexible shafts. Can anyone offer any solutions or do they know of someone with an old Sioux 1695 grinder laying on a shelf. Thank you, Richard

Good luck man! I'd honestly have to say that with anything that specialized you guys should fab your own replacemet parts. It might be faster and in the end cheaper...who knows?

I'm very familiar with ol' Sweet Sioux... The guides, the stones, etc.. Why not buy a new grinder? They still have to do valve jobs these days don't they? On the other hand, can't you find or fab a shaft with a square end on it that fits the stones?
