ONE Interpretation Q&A published by ASME is as follows
Interpretation: IX-04-20
Subject: QW-407.1, Welding Procedure
Specification, Postweld Heat Treatment
Date Issued: March 8, 2005
File No: 05-293
Question: A WPS for joining P-No.4 to P-No.4 specifies that the PWHT be
performed at 1125 deg. F +/- 25 deg. F, which is below the lower transformation
temperature for the material. May this WPS be revised to specify a PWHT
performed at 1225 deg. F +/- 25 deg. F, which is also below the transformation
temperature, without requalification of the procedure?
Reply: Yes.
MY Question is : i just finished one PQR for overlaying E316-16 on A105 without(w/o) PWHT, by this reasoning as shown in above example my interpretation for PQR W/O pwht shifting to a new PQR W/ PWHT is that a separate procedure qualification is not required when PWHT is specified in other sections(like in sour service) provided all other variables remain the same . can i interpret 407.1 this way.
