Relation of Motor Enclosure Protection with Voltage Level.

04/18/2014 2:43 AM

it is usual to use EEX d, EEX e & EEx p motors in ZOne 1 & EEX d, EEX nA & EEx pz motors in ZOne 2 same is applicable for motor terminal box.

is there any limitation or restriction of the above if the voltage level is increased.

i. e for higher voltage(6.6KV) more Stringent protection is required than lower volatge(440V) in the same zone.

Thanks in advance.

The motor manufacturers will give you that information, they have to certify the motors characteristics.

The question is so general as to make me think this is homework.

Good question, but it is something you would know from attending a 4 week course on Ex equipment, its uses and deployment.

I would like to tell you the answer, but I'm afraid, very afraid a little knowledge in this case is EXTREMELY dangerous. You ONLY have one opportunity to get this right, and a dozen or so lines in an open forum, will not give you the level of knowledge or expertise to comprehend the answers.

I suggest you find a training course, register and attend for this type of equipment. I can tell from your questions you know very little about the topic as you've not asked about termination of cables and the use of cable glands. A full blown training course is the right way to go in this instance.
