Generally modern axial flow compressors housings use cast alloy(Mag,ALU) and combination of high strength steels/titanium for the compressor wheels with blades again from combinations of steel and titanium blades smaller engines can use ALU alloys for compressor blades. all compressor blades are of standard high lift shape.

Turbine blades are all ways high strength steels or titanium alloys with as high melting point as possible The shape of turbine blades can be both impulse and convectional high lift shape depending on application.

The axial flow compressor is not the only type used but is certainly dominate it is the most efficient from both a packaging position and a power position.
