Pls give me a brief description about the design? contactor? rate?

is soft starter the option?

motor ratings are

415V for 530kW, it will consume much energy, you'll pay much money for this motor.

Following JIS, motor under 300kW utilize 415V, and >300kW utilize 3kV, this is to reduce energy utilization and money consquently. 3kV system maybe more investment capitals spent on it than 415V, but for long term BEP can be achieved within few periods of years.

About star-Delta, initially you can begin by searching or consulting to electrical company such as ABB, Siemens, Schneider Electric, and other. Basically you have to understand about protection system, name plate of motor as NEMA, and phenomena when fault occurr. But in briefly, it's just as initially, consult to vendor. To run that motor is easy, just consider the FLC and Istart, then find a breaker and contactor and o/L with time-current ghraphic lay above, but to keep it run normally and behaviour when fault, you have to understand as above mentioned.

You are crazy if you are trying to design something that big by asking for help from an internet site. It is obvious by the nature of your questions that you do not possess sufficient engineering skills to attempt this. This is not the way to attain those skills, there are far far too many variables. Please do yourself a favor and hire someone who knows what they are doing.

Dear Dennis,

You do not understand, do you? The complicity in the design of your system, it's not just giving a number, then work with it. That's why I told you instantly please contact vendor (MG, ABB, Siemens, etc). Otherwise we can keep in touch personally.

By the way, you're just graduated, aren't you?

Whoa there Big Guy. You had best buy a starter that is already manufactured. There are just too many variables for you to attempt such a project. I suggest you call an electrical vendor and see what they have to offer you.

Dear, Deniss

If i understand you correctly, you need the knowhow and the procedure for designing this kind of star -delta starter, besides the protection type required to be incorprated in such huge starter.

I think our friends didn't undersatnd you clearly cause if you have the materials ( contactors, overload, wiring, timer, phase failure unit, control relays, enclosure, etc...) then they can advise you on what types of protection you need to use & how to assemble all components to get your starter running.

I still think you should not attempt this. A soft starter cannot control speed. it becomes more evident that you are out of your element.

First, look for a guy who this stuff.

Or, hire me!!

The first is true the next is a joke!

Base on the statement you write, you need a wye-delta starter and control the speed of your huge motor?

Why not use Variable Frequency Drives (converters), it incorporates what you need.

Inquire on http:www.danfoss.com, they custom made what you need.

The motor you are trying to design the starter, or speed controller for is, as was mentioned, better if it were a high voltage motor.

All that aside, you would be better off, as mentioned, but not termed right to use a flux vector drive.
This will give you full programing capabilities on what the motor is driving, speed etc
