The Inflationary Multiverse

05/19/2014 9:07 PM

An interesting article, probably beyond my understanding, but then I wouldn't know that unless I understood enough to know... It claims that the inflationary phase is confirmed and that the evidence suggests our is one part of a multiverse.

Anyway it's worth a read.

I believe there is a dimensional universe that contains an order of energy much higher than ours, and that that universe impacted this universe causing the big bang and the resulting inflation....the inflation period was without time as the higher energetic material was controlled by a different set of rules....when the energetic material reached a certain level, lightspeed, the universe as we know it was born....

This is one of those complex topics where an article easy enough to understand doesn't explain much and one that explains it is almost impossible to understand (at least for me.)

Probably the best explanation I've seen is the video link in the article:

"The Science of Monday's Big "Gravitational Wave" Thing Explained in Two Minutes"

Thanks for the link! As an old, mostly Newtonian, physicist, that article makes the most sense of any I remember reading on the subject.

At the moment, I can only visualize multiple universes created by the same source as concentric spherical shells. ...or do we occupy the same space but different times? Are these other universes the "dark matter" so many are trying to find/understand?

As is commonly the case, each new answer spawns many more new questions!
