Possible? Yes. Practical is another question. What part of the time is there a wind? How strong is it?

Hi,

You need a wind data for your location. Here is a link page you can find some info about wind conditions in India:

http://www.eicinformation.org/data/search.asp?id=15

Also suggest to surf this page about wind energy

You can check out this webpage for the calculations involved:

As for the feasibility issue, you'll need to check with your local weather bureau for you prevailing wind conditions as well as your local council on what restrictions will apply if you decide to do this.

Dear Sanjay

Too many parameters to be considered, before any comment is made on your requirement, including the one posted here, "possible" or "practical". Requires a detailed discussion.

Thanks

Wind power generator is useful only in coastal areas where there are winds the year round. At other areas meteorological data from observatories located in various centers in India are needed as a first step in considering this possibility. For design purposes of Chemical Plant equipment the wind load considered is 150 Kg/M2. The actual wind load available on the windmill will be much less - about 60-80 Kg./M2and that too only when the wind is blowing at about 110 - 120 KM/hr. velocity perpendicular to the blades. But as the velocity increases further the force increases more rapidly.
