How do I turn an article of text into bitmap?

06/23/2007 11:51 PM

I have a long article of Hebrew text with punctuation marks, which I have to turn into a bitmap, in order to present it in a graphical form, which I can control graphically on an HTML page.

I can't use Unicode, for the lack of Hebrew punctuation marks

I can't use the Print-Screen keyboard function, because this will only give me one screen worth at a time, and the article is quite a few screens in length, which I cannot "stitch" to completion.

Is there a viable method or an application to do this?

Hemmo, Israel.

I suggest following Applett [free code issued for 6months or on donation free all SW on the site

or try Irfanview [link at the end of my post

Screenshot Captor

<http://www.donationcoder.com>

Screenshot Captor is a program for taking screenshots on your computer. It's different from other screenshot utilis in several notable ways:

· Optimized for taking lots of screenshots with minimal intervention - super efficient workflow.

· Smart autonaming of files, and ability to embed textual comments in files; automatic image file versioning - with tons of options for automatically naming the file and inserting comments.

· Great multi-monitor support.

· Highly configurable to make it work the way you want it to; stays out of your way in the system tray.

· Lots of capture modes: Multimon, Desktop, Active Window, Region, Windows Object. Each mode has a hotkey for quick access.

· Unique Cool Effects, including automatic active window enhancement (see picture below).

· Unsurpassed support for 3rd party user configurable tools, including file browsers and image editors; extend the program to do whatever you need b interfacing it with other programs.

· Slimline sidebar file browser provides full shell operations, with special quick MoveTo menu.

· Optional automatic image file versioning.

· Seamless integration with Unicode Image Maker tool.

· Autoscroll capture for windows too big for screen, and windows object capture for menus, toolbars, and buttons.

· Deluxe thumbnail maker.

SnagIt works really well. It's not free (approx. $40.00 US) but once you try it, you'll wonder how you lived without it. Google 'TechSmith' or 'SnagIt'.

Just display the text on your screen, then hit the PrintScreen button in the upper right section of your keyboard. The screen image is now on the clipboard. Open Paint in the Start\Accessories menu, then click Edit in the menu at the top. Click Paste and the image will be pasted into the Paint program. If the image is too large, you can resize it and seam it together using tools in Paint. Most other graphics programs will do the same thing.

You could try creating a PDF from the document, and then using acrobat, save it as a image. Most PDF writers allow you to set up custom paper sizes so you could set it up to all fit on one page giving you the single image that you need.

Try 'print'ing the document to "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" and select TIF format (or any other suitable format) as output format. And, then print it.

If required, you can convert the TIFF image to BMP format later. Ofcourse, TIFF images do not generally provide good resolution.

1. Scan it.

2. Save the scan as a .bmp file

It is that simple.

Scan the document in as a jpeg, open it in Micro Soft paint and save it as a bit map. Open the bit map with the program you're using for your presentation and you should be there.

Have you tried to print it out and then scan it back in?

You can use power-point with text box in each slide and save-as the presentation as "device independant bitmap".

I tried this for 200 slides in a moive-maker project, where some local fonts are not recognized by movie-maker.

Unless you are dealing with biblical text, or alike, all Hebrew texts can be written without punctuations. Doing it without it, shouldn't be a problem.

He wants a Picture file, Just copy the thing into a buffer, paste it into Paint.

Then convert the *.BMP file into a *.JPG file.

A Child could do it.

> He wants a Picture file, Just copy the thing into a buffer, paste it into Paint.

Which buffer are you talking about? Is it the clipboard? Text Clipboards will hold only the text part of it (characters. And hence, limited by char-sets). Image clipboards will hold image as selected however the content is limited by what could be seen on the screen. Image clipboards cannot hold more than what can be displayed in one screen. So, this solution will not work when the display spans multiple screens.

A thorough solution will be to print into a TIFF / similar file.

Of course it is correct, but if you care about the size of the file .jpg has almost 1/5th of .bmp while keeps all the resolution of picture as it is jiont-photographers-group's accepted format.
This is about the .JPGs converted from other formats.

Haajee,

- Just how many characters can you add in the "comments" section of this EXIF meta-file, or is it dependant on the over-all size of the picture?

- How do you utilise this and through which user-interface?

- Is it limited to Sony PC user-interface?

-A reasonably good space

-I just enter the occassion & family data etc + the Name(s) of all pictured & some thing special I like

- Almost all the popular Cameras use EXIF info.

There are a few Readers for it on web.

Google "EXIF" .

But the IrfanViewer in my posts is a verstyle tool for PIX & Multimedia.

It has built-in EXIF for .jpg & .gif [from cameras & other snap-appletts only]
