Reuse CO2 From An Oven

06/27/2007 10:16 AM

Does anyone know the process to extract pure and filtered CO2 from an exhaust oven and after embass on a pressurized container to be used like inert gas on a MIG welding system?

OK - here we go - what else is in the exhaust?

  • Some oxygen, though less than that in the inlet air if there is combustion taking place, perhaps?
  • Some nitrogen if ais is being used as the oxidant
  • Some argon, from argon in the air
  • Some NOx from the reaction netween atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen at high temperatures
  • Some SOx from the fuel
  • Some organics - if this is coming off a bakery oven?
  • Some particulates - what type of fuel is being used - coal?
  • Some CO2
  • Some H2O
  • Some CO - depending on the completeness of the combustion?

So the CO2 needs to be separated out from that lot.

Ah! Couldn't a combustion engine exhaust be used instead of the oven?

I am working on a company located in Durango Mexico our bussines is on metal working and galvanizing industries, please review our web site www.promesacv.com and you will see our process. we are trying to reuse the CO2 from the furnace kettle combustion system. I will make a gass analysis to determine the other components on the exhaust.

Freeze the exhaust, and remove the CO2 at the correct temp. A trapping system is used by North British Distillers, and the CO2 is used for carbonated drinks.
