Atmel AT32UC3 Microcontrollers

06/11/2014 10:45 PM
Has anybody did some serious work on AT32UC3 family?

There are more than 100 microcontrollers made by Atmel. In this family at least 25 are in the UC3. There are plenty of examples of programs with the use of the ADCs, DACs, Comparators etc, but not for all mCs. In the docs they say that you can port one program from one mC to another one in the same family, so if I have an example of an ADC program for AT32UC3C0512, I should port it, easiy, to AT32UC3B0128.

I have purchased the STK600 evaluation board, good for most of the Atmel families. I tried to do the porting that I just have mentioned. So, I asked the technical support. There is a difference of some 12 hours so, every second or third day I would get an answer to my questions. OR NOT!

After one month, I decided to try the following: because there are a wealth of examples for AT32UC3C0512, I bought the specialized board UC3C-EK(built around the AT323UC3C0512).

So, I compiled a DAC program made for AT32UC3C0512 in my Atmel Studio 6.2 and I tried to program in the same mC on the UC3C-EK, through JTAG connection of the STK600.

I expected that the chip on the eval board would be erased, and my program would be embedded. NOT.

I couldn't find, in all the more than 100 App notes, a procedure of connecting boards, of modifying gpio.h or conf_example files.h or any help to make me move at least one step forward.

Has anybody did some serious work on this UC3 families?

Are you willing to share?

I hope that the answer doesn't come from my friends at 12 hours ahead as it hapend when I asked a company in Houston (Atmel consultants and reps). They routed my letter to...yes, you guessed.

Thank you in advance.

P.S. Anybody want to buy, cheap STK600, UC3C-EK and a fistfull of mCs?

I haven't used Atmel in years. Back then they were my favorite. When cell phones started taking off Atmel parts dried up and I got burned by having them in my designs. That is old history but I just never made it back to them.

There is probably an active forum or two where you can ask other users questions. It might be under Google groups, under Atmel or somewhere else. You can probably get quite a few questions answered by one or more people in an hour or two if you find an active forum.

Yes, AVRfreaks but they didn't touch, yet, the kind of questions I have, and I didn't try to ask. But, probably I should.

Thanks
