I want to insulated on the steam line but not to know its thickness. Could you help me about this if technical data are avaiable.

Technical data are as follws:

1" fiberglass for small pipe,2" fiberglass for large pipe, Ceramic fibre for extreme pressure or for best insulation.

Dear sir,

Basic thing in insulation is maintaining ambient temperature outside the external wall of insulation. For getting desired knowledge on thermal insulation you can refer any manufacturers data sheet. For these type of insulation you can prefer mineral wool, slag wool.Normally thickness is 25 to 50mm.And you have to consider thermal conductivity and refractory index. For further help visit saint gobain

,thermal ceramics, and mineral wool manufacturer website.

SANKAR.

Any industrial insulation vendor should be able to spec an insulation type and thickness given media temperature and ambient conditions, and provide you with a calculated surface temperature. Common insulation types are mineral wool (cheapest, but absorbs water), calcium silicate (not as cheap, more durable, but still holds water), and perlite (more expensive, but won't absorb water)

Also, the insulation finish can have an effect on the performance of the insulation, and this needs to be discussed with the vendor too.

Make sure to check out the code book ASME B31.1 (Standards for Pressure Piping. Power Piping)
