Flying to Hawaii

09/11/2014 10:42 PM

I'm appalled at the prices airlines want to fly to Hawaii.

When's the best time to book a February 28 2015 flight to Honolulu? Now? Next month? A week before?

Any advice from seasoned travelers?

My favorite site is www.flightnetwork.com . It guarantees the best price and usually will have found the best price in the first place. I have booked a flight through them to Hawaii on February 17, 2015. This will mark the fourth time I have used flightnetwork. You can upgrade your seats if available. Strictly a pleasure trip. Good luck and hope you enjoy Hawaii.

I just checked flights from Toronto. Today is $914.00 CAD. We booked a month or so ago at $890.00 CAD. That is return per person all in with taxes and fees.

However, Chicago to Honolulu was at $983.00 CAD. What is strange is that the Toronto flight connects with Chicago flights to Honolulu. Figure that out?? I know both Toronto and Chicago are hubs. It would cost much more if I flew from Kingston, ON or even Syracuse NY. Perhaps Cedar Rapids falls in the same regional problem.

$1.00 CAD = $0.92 US or close to it. The checks were all Flight Network. But bear in mind they will guarantee lowest price and reimburse you if there is a price drop or cheaper flight. My daughter was reimbursed without even having to contact them. Feel free to use any travel agency you want, I know this one works for me.

Hook up to all airlines newsletters from airlines that fly to Hawaii and wait for the specials to come in.

A week before might get you a special airfare but I would not count on it if you have to be there at this date!

The sooner the better in most cases.

Some airlines have a low air fare guarantee that will automatically notify the purchaser when/if there is a price drop.

Take a look on the internet at: "Air Fare Price Watch" and "Low Air Fare"
