We are the sole supplier and integrator of combat management systems (CMS) for the UK Royal Navy's surface and sub-surface fleet. Our CMS products support planning, tactical picture compilation, decision-making and weapon control to meet multiple emergent threats in blue water and littoral operations. Your main responsibilities as a Hardware Engineer
You will work with teams developing and delivering Combat Systems. The role of the teams is to design, build, configure, test, install and gain acceptance of the CMS systems. The role will operate in an exciting, challenging area and provide the successful applicant with significant opportunities to develop their skills in a modern, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) based environment. It will also provide a fantastic opportunity to be part of Hardware development through all phases of the lifecycle from contract award through to acceptance.
Essential Skills:
Knowledge and experience in COTS hardware design and PC technology. Experience with COTS cabinets, cabinet design, wiring schedules, power distribution etc. would be especially desirable
A can-do, enthusiastic attitude and enquiring mind with a flexible approach & openness to involvement in all aspects of the team's work
An excellent team player with strong communication skills and an ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Desirable Skills:
-Experience in Naval CMS architecture, technical design & delivery; including physical requirements and associated design & installation attributes, build & manufacture, physical integration and Acceptance
-Previous experience of installation and delivery to ship-Knowledge of current networking technology, utilising both Ethernet and serial interfaces
-Experience of working with sub-contractors-Knowledge of the currently deployed CMS-1 system architecture or similar Naval CMS systems based on COTS technology
-Experience in Design Certification
-Previous experience in Dell server and networked systems-Knowledge of PCoIP
