ES Sider Crude Processing Problems

07/05/2007 7:55 AM

Dear Sir,

We are processing Saharan crude, masila crude, zafiro crude, Amenam crude, Mellitah, Es Sider,Hungo crude in our Refinery. The crude blending will be done as per the requirement of the product which is having high demand (cost wise) in the market. The problem is that, with Es sider crude, we can't able to maintain the Light Kero mercaptans (it's exceeding the limit). Because of this problem, we are supposed to minimize Kerosene Treating Unit(KMU) throu'put (Please note that if we reduce the KMU throughput which is running at 160m3/hr to 100m3/hr, our Aviation turbine fuel ATF will be reduced, resulting in the loss of 50 Lakhs, for a week). But we are not having any other options since we have purchased this Es Sider crude. Can anyone is having any idea or your suggestions regarding this???

Contact the process licensor of your KMU and ask for their help. They MIGHT be able to suggest a way to significantly increase the mercaptan removal capacity for a short term (days/weeks) operation.
