… that's the advice of Eriko Sakurai, executive director for the Dow Corning Expertise-Based Industry Group. Synthetic lubricants, he says, can reduce gear and motor size, handle higher speeds and loads, plus withstand wider temperature ranges. Drawbacks? Mainly expense, but "even a small percentage reduction in energy use" will compensate for the extra cost.

I would tend to agree that synthetic lubricants are a good thing, that's what I run in all my engines. But Eriko is a female name, so you might want to check her CV before you keep calling her "he."
