Hormonics Blocking

What is reason behind to block the hormonics during initial energization of power transformer?

Because Harmonic loses ( distorted frequencies) return through Neutral path into transformer and can damage the neutral connected terminal inside the transformer. It may also cause huge vibro structural abnormal sound in dry type cast resin transformer.

To prevent false trips of the transformer's protective relaying.

To prevent nuisance tripping of protective relays of transformer, specially,. transformer differential protection relay.
