We are about 25 miles south of the Cape and this is what we saw:

It was a little hazy out, but we could hear the rocket from inside the house about 2 minutes later.

You must have had a telephoto lens on the camera because i roughly calculate 28.4 miles.

200mm.

400mm would have been nicer, but at this distance atmospheric haze results in diminished returns and a 400mm telephoto lens costs as much as a good used car!

I'm roughly the same distance. We could see separation with the unaided eye.

I got to watch most of the Apollo missions go up from my front yard.

That was cool as hell for a space nut!!

Well I learned something on the report by "Wrench Twirler". The down elevator takes you to a cool place. Always thought hell was supposed to be the hot place.... !!
