Soft Conservation

03/11/2015 2:08 PM

Hi,I have a problem and hope to get some hints how to solve it.

Here it is:

I have a couple of soft packs I use since several years ( FEA-mechanical/thermal/magnetics/aso, CAD 2D and 3D) and have been informed that they will not be supported any more as download and re-install.

In case of a crash or PC failure I will loose those programs which are important to me.I want to make a HDD clone on an external drive, the problem is can I use it with an other PC ?What should I do to be sure that the external drive with the clone will work properly with the new computer ?Could you recommend a free GOOD clone software ?Thanks

Seagate DiscWizard is free if your HDD is either a Maxtor or Seagate brand.

Otherwise, Google it - it appears there are a ton of options out there... just need to do a little research to find what best suits your needs and your hardware and software.

Better to make back-ups using a ghosting program onto another hard drive.

Good luck with your quest.

Thank you for hints the problem as I mentioned is NOT to clone but to be sure that the clone will work with an other PC since I was told it is not possible. This is the critical point and I do not find a source to get the right answer, maybe I do not formulate the question the right way.
