Fry the Friendly Skies?

Much attention has been focused on privacy concerns raised by full-body scanners installed at U.S. airports by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA). What about safety issues? Millimeter wave scanners generate 30-300 GHz electromagnetic waves and emit less radiation than a cell phone, according to TSA. Backscatter-type scanners subject bodies to as much radiation as you'd receive during two minutes of flight. The risks appear minimal. What do you think?
