Growing Market for Photovoltaic Modules

Pathfinder Tags: cadmium telluride PV

The market for photovoltaic modules should reach $1.3 billion by 2010, up 300% from its 2005 level, says a study by the Freedonia Group. Total unit sales should reach 531 MW, which is fully plausible, judging by Uni-Solar's plans to reach production levels of 300 MW by 2010 alone, and the First Solar IPO prospectus that showed a backlog of 745 MW for the company's cadmium telluride product. Read more about the thin film technologies that are making headlines, including products that can be used to build photovoltaic systems in roofing shingles and other construction materials.
