Will You Buy a 3D TV?

Posted April 19, 2010 8:13 AM

The hype and excitement associated with the introduction of 3D televisions didn't go unnoticed at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Attendees saw the latest 3D TV products from top electronics manufacturers. Although more TV manufacturers will be offering 3D TVs in hopes that the 3D feature will appeal to consumers, many issues remain including lack of content, scarcity of distribution channels, and technical kinks. Do you see risks in becoming an early adopter of 3D TV? What technology challenges do you think will impede the expansion of 3D TV? We all know that flicker rate of displays can cause illness, eye problems, and even seizures. Japan had a serious issue with a kids TV program that had a strange flicker pattern. I personally had a weird, "aura" problem a few years ago that lasted for several months, until I discovered that it was due to my having my old CRT monitor set to 75 Hz (because I could actually see the default 60 hZ rate, which annoyed me). After returning it to the 60 Hz rate, the "aura" never returned.

Will the left/right switching of HD TV cause a similar problem for some people? There are already reports that it has.
