Who Owns the Daisy?

Posted May 24, 2010 7:50 AM

Clorox says it registered the daisy trademark in September 2009 for use on its new Greenworks product labels. Competitor Method Products Inc. has been using the daisy on its label for the past six years, and never bothered to register it as a trademark because it claims Mother Nature, not any company, owns the daisy. Who is right? Can any company register anything they like to use as a trademark?

Mother Nature may own the daisy, but she does not own various stylized images. Too bad this weak sneak peek didn't show the contending versions. That might have spurred more interest.
