Keeping Track of RFID

Posted October 24, 2010 7:52 AM

A recent estimate puts the number of radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to be sold in 2010 at 2.3 billion, up from 1.9 billion in 2009. The tags are used for everything from keeping tabs on large shipping containers to following retail merchandise to tracking animals in the wild. But there are probably thousands of other applications just waiting to be tapped into. Are you exploring the potential of this technology, or is it getting more attention that it deserves?

Yes, exploring the potential of this technology (home gadget tracker; i.e. TV remote, keys, wallet, home filing system).

More attention than it deserves is in the invasion of privacy (tracking cars, kids, etc) such as discussed in this blog.

Relatively weak signals should be easily defeated for the 'big brother' worriers.

It is great technology for many uses!
