That being said

This blog entry seems much like an ad for the pike energy report, which is priced at $3500 [according to one of the commentators], I followed a link provided by the same commentator http://dotyenergy.com/Markets/Micro-algae.htm which seems to align more closely to my understanding of reality

the production figures stated by the pike report executive summary are speculation.

As of this writing there is no strain of algae that both produces substantial amounts of oil & is acclimated to being grown in a non climate controlled environment [outside]

Like Garthh pointed out - to date algae fuel is all hype & BS.

Hi Garthh,

Thanks for your recognization and feedback. My team is working to put more signed content onto the site, and this was my first. However, it was not written as an advertisement for Pike Research, as we have no affiliation with them. I was looking to write an article that fell within the blog's sphere and this was the most recent news that caught my eye. The findings of the study are certainly up for debate here, and I will do my best to avoid citing studies that require payment in the future.

Hi Sharkles, I don't think "recognization" is a real word, just one of those 'South Park" spellings that somehow get into on-line dictionaries. Like authoritay

"Recognition" is the 'unmolested' spelling.

The danger here is it go's the way of corn

Instead of doing the homework and realizing this resource was abandoned, so needs to be re-R&D'd, it becomes a stock-market/lobby/circus, attracts 'short term investment' and go's bust - again.

There needs to be a long term vision, if the US is going to make any headway in the alternate sector - and it hasn't appeared yet.

Too much "instant profit" or "gold strike" thinking. Alternate energy is like a yearling colt. It needs stroking and care and patience to turn it into a workhorse of the future.

Look for "instant race result" and you'll "blow your dough", ruin it, or kill it.
