Food Industry Samples Green Certification

To separate true sustainability efforts from bogus "greenwashing" claims, food manufacturers are beginning to embrace third party certification, reports Food Quality. More food producers are using such ecolabels and certifications as organic, Marine Stewardship Council, and Pesticide Residue Free. Others are seeking an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), a quantitative statement about the environmental impacts of a product based on international lifecycle assessment standards (ISO 14025).

Kind of like ISO - you pays your money and you gets to use their stamp.

There is a certain amount of dancing that goes on to justify the whole thing but it is mostly play - if a company wants it that way.
