It's in the Numbers

Posted February 19, 2011 7:00 AM

The U.S. Department of Agriculture anticipates that by certifying a product with as little as 25% organic content as "bio-based," consumers and companies will create higher demand for bio-based materials. Are they right? Should the content threshold be increased?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Plastics Fabrication, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Plastics Fabrication today.

No one believes the government anymore. If it uses these labels to regulate, it only compounds the unforseen consequences already heaped upon the American people. The USDA should stay out of commerce except for interstate consumer protection.

Rule #1. You Can not trust the FDA

Rule #2 You can not trust the USDA

Rule #3 You can no longer trust the government.

Corporations have taken over all Government Agencies and Organizations with their money laundering, and all officials are more than welcome to take it, and screw the people of America.

Look at SOY, 100% Monsanto GMO. The most unhealthy thing one can injest.

Corn, 55% Monsanto, not for human consumption yet, 45% Ethanol, this will change soon.

And so much more GMO to be offered, and the FDA, USDA and DOA will just buy into it. As their pockets get filled, and people just start dying off because of it.

Yes, this has nothing to do with engineering, unless you look at GMO engineering of the molecular DNA structures of proteins and beyond.

The OP was asking if 25% Organic is enough. A farmer once asked, Hell I gave my horses 50% saw dust mixed with their feed and they died after a year. Why?

Saved me a lot of money.

Bottom line, do not believe anything coming out of the mouths of our government agencies. They have all been infiltrated by Big Corporations and will say anything to fill their pockets.

did either of you posters actually read the article from the link?

Here's a bit more info

The voluntary labeling program is an extension of the department's BioPreferred program, which previously focused just on highlighting bio-based products for preferential government purchasing. The BioPreferred program has so far identified 5,100 bio-based products for preferential purchasing, and the addition of the label program is expected to make it easier for federal buyers to seek out bio-based goods.

it's all fine & dandy to complain about the government, it would be nice if the comments have some vague connection to the OP

in case it is still unclear the subject is bio-based plastic & a labeling scheme to help government procurement officers know which products are qualified for preferential treatment
