GEA’s HVAC Blog – How’s it Working?

Posted June 22, 2011 4:46 PM by geanorm

Editor's Note: CR4 would like to thank Norm Greene (geanorm) for contributing this blog entry.

GEA started blogging in November 2010. Like many other small businesses, we wanted to use our blog as a means to communicate and share our knowledge and consulting expertise with others who may have interest in obtaining and using that knowledge. To small businesses like GEA, blogging is a low-cost method to supplement our website activities by reaching out to interested parties with short stories about HVAC technology, the HVAC industry in general, and environmental issues based on our consultant experiences.

What Have We Learned?

Our readers are interested in technical topics. Our series on Oil Return Issues rated among the tops in viewership.

The unusual - On a whim we took a look at the Best HVAC Videos and had a lot of interest in this topic.

That short and to the point is what you are looking for.

Once bloggers have elected to take part in our blog, results show that many visit other segments of the GEA website. The areas people visit most frequently are the "Our Company" page, our "Homepage" and the "GEA Library" where large amounts of technical and business information on the HVAC industry is available.

What's Upcoming?

We are always asking ourselves if we are we providing thought-provoking content or thought leadership that will stimulate, educate and motivate participants. We track our blog results for subscribers, e-mail participants and social media like Facebook, LinkedIn and others seeking to maintain a relevant array of topics in our blog.

GEA is still quite new to the blogging phenomenon and working hard to understand how to do an even better job of providing information people want to see and how to make the blog more interactive and user friendly. We will be including guest bloggers on occasion based on relevant subjects in the HVAC industry, the environment and good business practices. If you are interested, we hope you'll contact us. You can also provide your comments and observations on what GEA can do to improve our blog. What topics would you like to see included? We'd really like to hear from you!

I have enjoyed this blog, with the perspectives of multiple contributors. My area (industrial ammonia) is a bit different from the HVAC emphasis, but I have learned some useful ideas.

GEA Consulting has done a fine job with this blog. You've provided technical content about your industry without ever sounding "salesy" or self-promotional. That's a fine line to walk, and not everyone who blogs with CR4 manages to stay on the right side of that line in the eyes of our readers. Congratulations, geanorm, and keep up the good work.

I agree with you Moose Steve (sorry, old habits die hard). I find these to be thought provoking blogs.

A recent blog, Develop Written Policies or Procedures For Business Effectiveness, was sidetracked early, and sort of got lost. The blog contributions demonstrate how anal-retentive individuals can be. I am hoping the experience there will not sour GEA on this forum.... but it might not be a bad idea to run an entry through the CR4 spall chigger before posting. (There I go, doing it right there. Let it go, Doorman)

You are too generous and good spirited. My poor spelling was absolutely inexcusable as was my trying to hurry and not checking your own work. My apologies Doorman. I am embarrassed and should be.

My notes to the forum are often tapped out between other varied crises ongoing in my particular corner of the earth. I have my share of grammar and typing errors around here, due mostly to astigmatism, rheumatism, fat finger disorder, chronic polyuria, or some equally explainable malady.

As I said in #3, I hope that the members around here who have never committed such atrocities as an uncredited quote, a misspelled word, a syntax or tense error... well, I hope that contributions from (or scoldings by) these individuals will not cause you to shy away from this forum.

[edit] I ran this thru the CR4 spiel chugger before posting. It thinks 'polyuria' is spelled incorrectly, but I know it is correct. There are a few words the CR4 smell chuckle will miss, but it is helpful.
