ASTRA Gemini Powers Up

The ASTRA Gemini dual-beam petawatt laser at the UK-based Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) just got a little closer to its research goals with the addition of a pair of off-axis parabolic Zerodur mirrors for the beam focusing system. When the upgrade is completed, the single beam power of the ASTRA Gemini will rise from 20 TW to 0.5 PW.
