From Apple to Solar

The death of Steve Jobs has caused many to reflect on his legacy and accomplishments in technology development and diffusion. Some lessons are drawn from his successful cultivation of Apple which may be applicable to the solar industry. Focus on design simplicity and customer service, just as Apple does. Innovate, diversify, and take risks; Apple did very well after branching out from 'just computers.' What else of value may translate from Jobs' success to the solar, or other industrial, sectors?

Not much - he was a super salesman but not much more.

His company does manage to hire good people.

4) Say no to 1,000 things - When Steve Jobs came back to Apple in 1997 he reduced their product line from 350 products to just 10. Sometimes it is good to limit your activities but put more time and effort into the fewer projects rather than numerous ones.
