Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

American Cars in Japan

Posted August 06, 2013 8:00 AM by dstrohl

It's easy to focus on the history of the automobile here in the United States and over in Europe to the detriment of the automobile's evolution elsewhere in the world, particularly in Japan, despite the prominence of Japanese automobiles in the American and world market. Peter Laurence made a brief stab at correcting that with his article in SIA #152, March 1996, noting not only how American cars dominated the Japanese car market before World War II, but also how more contemporary Japanese viewed vintage American automobiles.

Not much about american cars in Japan in this article, it makes some mention of museums housing American cars.

Living in Japen, i rarely see modern American cars, The Prowler seems to show up now and then, besides the occasional Car nut with an old muscle car, it is mostly Japanese cars, then European cars (Mercedes, BMW, Mini, Audi).

I see more Masarati's than American cars in Japan
