Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Ford Honors NASA’s Apollo Program with its 2015 EAA AirVenture Mustang

Designed from the outset to put a man on the moon, the Apollo project remains the crowning achievement of the U.S. space program. In homage to the Apollo missions, Ford has created a custom Apollo-themed Mustang, to be auctioned off on July 23 at this year's Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture gathering in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The 2015 Mustang GT is the eighth aircraft-themed Mustang created by Ford for the benefit of the EAA's youth programs. Outside, it wears a coat of gloss white unique to the car, offset by a black hood, roof and trunk. A single white stripe, trimmed in red, runs from the hood to the trunk, further evoking memories of the Saturn V rocket's livery.

A Mustang inspired by NASA's best gets space-themed upgrades.

The initial acceleration is not so great. The final velocity will take you to the moon.
