A 700 hp car with nobody at the wheel. What could possibly go wrong? You know people are going to push the envelope to see what it can do.

It's pretty self evident that bugs/inappropriate safeguards/lack of safeguards like this will occur.
The worrying thing this is that the general public are being used as a live test/debug community.
I wonder if they got the idea from Microsoft?

Yeah, asking people not to let loose of the wheel is not much of a safeguard.

Why do I recall a legal requirement that a driver must have control of a vehicle at all times, which includes one hand remaining on a steering wheel at all times.

So if the law changes, has changed, no one needs to manage a steering wheel at any given travel time on a highway? Or, is this rule only applicable to electric vehicles?

Didn't the same thing happen when the cruise control feature (and we are talking features here) came out? It's hardly new now but I heard of a recent accident where the driver of the vehicle was found dead in the back of his RV after he put the vehicle into cruise control mode and went into the back for some reason and it ran off the road.

Some people cannot be protected no matter what you do. Same things have been happening with in car GPS nav systems (people ignoring surroundings and driving based on faulty map data, like into the sea or oncoming traffic).

People have even managed to kill themselves with automatic car windows after sticking their heads back into vehicles and opening the window close mechanism. I believe that this occurred some time in the US and as such safety obstruction devices were added to future cars (I have never actually tested this personally), doesn't mean we should ban them.

Spend any amount of time watching "social Media" aka Stupid on Parade and you'll see all manner of idiocy.

(Do NOT ask me about that 'accent,' I tried to emulate 'typical youtuber' by mashing up 'inner city' and 'redneck,' with some '70's jive,' 'Deliverence Southern,' and 'Bushism' thrown in. There may even be a bit of 'Prohabition Mobster' in there, all I know for certain is that my brain feels like it twisted it's ankle composing that quote.)
