Ford to Launch e-Dsel Electric Vehicle Division

Ford Motor Company is poised to launch a new division to build fully electric vehicles, Hemmings Motor News News has learned. The new division will be called e-Dsel, putting a high-tech spin on a widely recognized name, and will make its debut in a locked room in the bowels of the Javits Center at the New York International Auto Show in April.

Corporate insiders revealed that the new e-Dsel division will offer a range of four sedans, to go on sale on September 4 of this year. Judging by the leaked studio shot of a pre-production prototype shown here, these will feature retro-inspired styling. There will also be an SUV, a pickup truck, a delivery van, a moped, a garden tractor, a unicycle, a pogo stick and a line of designer earbuds, all offered under the e-Dsel brand.

Isn't that like naming a ship the SS Sieve?

From Wiki on Edsel: "After it was unveiled to the public, it was considered to be unattractive, overpriced, and overhyped. The Edsel never gained popularity with contemporary American car buyers and sold poorly."

Edsel, the kiss of death...Maybe should have gone with the Edison.....haha

In other news,, Tesla's market cap has just surpassed Ford's.....Oh how the mighty have fallen....maybe they should just stick to Mustangs and Trucks....old school it...

Well everybody always said the Edsel was ahead of it's time, maybe they think that time is now.....haha......Maybe his grandkids have enough clout with the company to try and exonerate his name....remove the pall over the Edsel name so to speak...I think this is history repeating 'all over again'....If this name is associated with a repeated market failure again it will gain legendary fail status, and become a curse, the curse of Edsel....

I wonder if Mr. Ford knows that the government of california wants to start charging people extra, (TAXES) if they drive a low emission vehicle, a zero emission vehicle, an electric hybrid and all of the fully electric vehicles.
