New Wave Tech Digs Indiana Sewer

Posted August 16, 2007 11:07 AM

When you gotta go, you gotta go. Commercial development is growing so rapidly in Richmond, IN, that a four mile long gravity sewer system is being constructed to more than double capacity and flow of the existing pump station operation. But how are tunnel contractors able to bore through the super hard rock that makes up existing soil conditions? Cutting-edge technology, described in this Underground Construction feature story, not only allows for tunnel construction beneath the White Water River, but that also maintains a strict gravity grade requirement of .25%. Because after all, waste flows downhill!

Because after all, waste flows downhill!

I remember a class in plumbing discussing the same thing along with 2 other rules.

Rule 1. Waste flows downhill

Rule 2. Pay is distributed on Fridays

Rule 3. Don't chew your fingernails
