Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Open Diff – What Are the Pettiest Moments in Automotive History?

We’ve all been there. “Choose your battles,” they say, but you just can’t let it go; you have to prove yourself right – or, at the very least, prove somebody else wrong. And that’s why Topic magazine’s recent list of the top 60 pettiest moments throughout history, up to the present day, feels so satisfying. Yes, the incidents cataloged within were totally unnecessary (“extra,” as the kids say these days), sometimes immoral, and occasionally illegal, but they were also – as evidenced by the list – legendary.

And yet, the list doesn’t touch on automotive history, which is absolutely littered with instances of bare pettiness. Don’t believe me? Some the pettiest examples abound in Hemmings Daily.
