Build Your Own Solar Generator

Pathfinder Tags: solar power

If you have some space to spare in your backyard or perhaps on your roof, you might be interested in building your own solar trough generator. Technology Review provides you with some ideas for its design and construction using inexpensive and easy-to-find car parts and plumbing supplies. You will also need an oil rag as motor oil is used for the heat transfer fluid!

I am seriously interested in this idea. Where do I find information on exactly how to build it? Finding parts won't be hard, I presume, and I have plenty of space. One aspect of this plan causes some apprehension. I have never built a steam turbine and would not know where to begin.

The builder cited is an engineering grad. student.
You note he had process heating, and hot water
condenser stages. He used two working fluids.
- Not a simple system.
For amateurs photovoltaics are the way to go.

Although not so catchy but quiet impressive as far as wste and junk parts reused are considered , we already use solar thermal water heaters and do well perform , but here you need pumps , controls to regulate the flow , where do you bring power from to power these devices so you utilise its own energy once generator gets little start up through soppose battery , you won`t get that amount of energy per area to utilise .you are driving turbine to rotate alternator , than two stage heat exchanger to cool down the liquid for reheating , although not practical but good to impliment and have some inovative way to make it more efficient to atleast run our low wattage devices.

Why Africa , we need it every where........................
