Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Garage 101: How To Add Flexibility and Storage To a Garage On a Budget

Just a couple years ago, my garage looked like the photo above: stuffed to the gills and a severe hindrance to getting things done. It was one of those catch-22 situations in which I needed the space to complete the projects that littered the garage, but the projects themselves took up the space that I needed to complete them.

Unfortunately, garages themselves (and not the stuff in them) don't exactly rise to the top of the priority list. So I could kiss all those dreams of fancy organizers and workbenches goodbye. Yet I still needed to make my garage useful again, otherwise the cruft would just keep piling up. I needed a plan, or at least a semblance of a plan, to get the most of this space without spending much. How this greasy monkey got his habitat back.

That garage looks great!

You can even SEE portions of the floor. My compliments.
