Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Watch This: an AMX Driven Like a Girl

No doubt about it; we love drag racing and a great drag car. Nothing warms our little black hearts like a heads-up, hammer-down quarter-mile race between two cars. Or trucks. Or minibikes. Really doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's a race to get to the other end first. But a vintage muscle car, trimmed with the latest go-fast goodies and on a dragstrip is still one of the greatest pleasures in life.

And so it was, while we had the mighty, albeit rare, muscle from AMC on our minds this week, that we stumbled across this killer AMX. And what's even cooler? It's driven by Ann Erb--half of the husband-and-wife drag team of Ann and Steve Erb. To add to all this, their "All AMC" 1970 AMC AMX doesn't seem to lose very often.

Have you seen the car in-person? Have you gone up against Ann and lived to tell the tale? Let's hear it, Hemmings Nation! And in the meantime, enjoy...

There's a slight advantage to her in that she probably weighs 25, or more, pounds less than most male drivers. The issue corresponds to why horse racing jockeys are required to ''weigh-in'' before racing to even the riding-loads...
