Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

We're covering the Alfa Romeo Spider, a subject near and dear to your 1987 Spider Quadrifoglio-owner author. And before you start, yes we are aware of the Mazda Miata. It's a fine car in its own right, but variety is the spice of automotive life. That is, we're not here to tell you what to buy, just what's good about any number of cars you might want to buy.

Check out the YouTube video below or read on for the basic history plus some insight into ownership and prices. As always, this is meant as an introduction to the model, you can dive deeper into some of the included links or add your own insight in the comments. Enjoy!

I seem to recall that the Spider was a favorite at the SCCA Autocross SOLO events back in the '80's.
