Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Drag Slicks and a Pontiac? Who IS this Woman?

Pathfinder Tags: drag racing

If you're like the rest of us insufferable dragstrip loons, the social media are full of distractions. Is there anything we get lost in as quickly and for as long as vintage photographs of the drag racing scenes of yore, poorly-scanned and loaded to any number of our facey-spacey groups? Deadline at the office? Nope – we gotta figure out if those are Appliance or Ansen wheels on that Satellite. Pick up the kids after soccer practice? Not until we argue with cheesehead454 over the wind-wings on that Camaro, thank you very much. Doctor's appointment? She can wait until we repost that rare pic of Cha-Cha – the world needs to see it and we're the only ones who can do it. Heroes don't always wear capes, after all.

So, it's with that in mind that we bring you this week's mystery pic: We've never seen this one before, but we want to know all about that jean jacket-of-many-patches. What was her E.T. that day? Where was she? Who's trailer is that behind her? And who is she, anyway? Does she still have the jacket? C'mon, Muscle Machines Minions – what say ye?

Well I don't know her name but this is the car:

And in this forum, she's married to "oldschool"......
"Built a serious(for us) '68 330hp Bird for the '75 season. My wife, girlfriend at the time, drove it and did quite well, winning her 1st six races in a row, at 2 local tracks. Also, won the Louisiana State Championship race at our local track, near Monroe, LA"

She kinda favors Danica Patrick in side profile, but this looks like a '60s' photo,so couldn't be her.

And she does favor Welsh women, like my wife.
