Along with the usual suspects of the global design engineering community, professionals from artistic disciplines - like experimental English film director Peter Greenaway, or cutting-edge bands, classical music groups and performance artists like Radiohead, Kronos Quartet, or Laurie Anderson - would also feel right-at-home producing their next film, music, or live production in the various artist and engineer-friendly rooms of the EMPAC facility.
Supporting this point, as myself and the rest of the CR4 Blog Team moved into the 360 Degree Performance Room, I was feeling the vibe of Greenaway's "Pillow Book" movie from the 90's, where Greenaway integrated the music of Irish rock band U2 and the visuals of Asian font-types into his storyline.
Prior to my team taking its tour, GlobalSpec's digital-art "EMAC" team took video of this same room, which I strongly suggest checking out: click here to view video. In the video, you'll notice images (for example, letter font-types projected onto a darkened-room background) are produced by a 360-degree holographic projector, mounted to the ceiling. Using this projector, a new start-up company looking to dazzle a venture capital audience, could easily project 3-D models of their latest cutting-edge designs and win funding for their project.
