Nanotech Not so Green?

Nanotechnology may produce filters, catalysts, and other materials that can remove toxic materials from the environment. Now a special, currently free issue of the Journal of Industrial Ecology features studies showing that pollutants generated during the manufacturing process may outweigh those benefits. Is nanotech production putting more waste into the system than it is taking out?
