Not true techno--mine resides clipped to my belt--some exposure, sometimes when I'm not in my recliner (adjusting position with rudder stick) or in my vehicle with it clipped to the rear view mirror (to improve the chance of receiving a call) or in bed sleeping (or whatever)-(mostly sleeping)--Otherwise I guess the 1 or 2 hours I might be in daylight could help but then again if you're in your vehicle or boat several hours a day there's always the "on board" charger available if they don't "cut out" cigarette lighters to plug them into in all vehicles (by goverment mandate)--just lookin out for us !

But you're right--very limited application.
