Hemmings Motor News Blog

Hemmings Motor News has been around since 1954. We're proud of our heritage, but we're also more than the Hemmings full of classifieds that your father subscribed to. Aside from new editorial content every month in Hemmings, we have three monthly magazines: Hemmings Muscle Machines, Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car.

While our editors traverse the country to find the best content for those magazines, we find other oddities related to the old-car hobby that we really had no place for - until now. With this blog, we're giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we see and what we do during the course of putting out some of the finest automotive magazines you'll ever read.

Posted May 04, 2009 12:01 PM by dstrohl

By now, you've all heard the news of Pontiac's death sentence, made official earlier this week. We've seen plenty of tributes to the best and worst Pontiacs, and all sorts of dining-room-table historians come out of the woodwork to explain the marque's downfall.

Instead, we thought the most appropriate words to say weren't words at all, but this December 1961 nighttime photograph of Paper City Motor Sales, a Pontiac-Cadillac dealership located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

It's not a 'real' goodnight for the pontiac...the pontiac is really a Holden SS Commadore revamped for the American Market. For the die-hard fans, you could always buy it from Australia and then have it shipped over and do the right hand side drive change to the left hand drive.

Unbelievable! How Come? One of the best out of business. But I guess that's not all that are 'dissapearing' latetly by the way. Even the money from the Banks-Wall St.-Etc. if you believe so, personally I don't buy much such story but that's what they saying now. I don't know but something is fishy somehow, think about it for a second. Even before the '911' thing a whole bunch of things was running whackooouuhhh, really!

As the 'BaBe's Boomer's Era' approach it ends all of the sudden everything else with it. So, that's the thing I Guess. It's like a too much of the coincidence, doesn't?

But don't get me wrong now. See the timing of such episodes are kind of way too parallel one each other. I don't Know Boss! Ya' tell me now what's wrong with that picture there. Better not find out, 'Leave it to Beaver'.

Show me the Moneeeeyyyy,

MC
