I would have been a civil engineer, but I just can't bring myself to be civil.

I am more of a cranky engineer. Most of what I build, I rip apart and re-build after the 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th prototype fails to operate as I demand it should.

I did design a whole "mini-town" for cats once as a boy, does that qualify me?

Because, many of the types of things that require Civil Engineering can be readily seen, recognized, and appreciated, by non-engineers in every-day life...
