While this is simple in construction, it still relies on slow pervaporization membrane separation. I should think much more can be done with membrane capacitive deionization, once a few minor tweaks of the technique are finalized to allow seawater feed, rather than just brackish, although by dilution of the seawater, the technology can already be used (in a recycling mode of operation). Low power requirement, far below that for RO system, which is already below vaporization/condensation methods.
