History:

I started out on clarinet in the 5th grade. In 7th grade I decided to get into oboe and continued that through high school despite the financial burden (oboe reeds were $5.00 and clarinet reeds were $0.25!). In my sophomore year I bought my first guitar at a pawn shoppe (how cliche'!) and started learning all of my favorite rock songs - all by ear. After being taught to read music in school, I have not kept up with that and have lost most of it. Maybe it's because I don't like playing or performing music exactly as it was written. There is no room for creativity there!

Current:

Electric & acoustic 6-string (Taylor 410 - had it for 9 years and the sound just gets better!) and 12-string guitars, Irish pennywhistle, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, banjo, vocals, etc. Mostly Christian Contemporary and some Irish and American folk music.

One of the most fun projects that I have done is building a hammered dulcimer.
